Wipers and washers are easy to overlook on a dry day. Checking them while parked gives you time to address a problem before spray or rain makes visibility difficult. The check should be a routine preparation step, not a roadside experiment.

Understand the situation

Follow the vehicle handbook when operating, filling or maintaining the washer system. Look for streaking, damage or ineffective clearing and have problems assessed appropriately. A premium replacement blade is useful only when it fits the actual vehicle and is installed correctly.

Before you practise

A focused practice session

At the next suitable lesson, ask your instructor to demonstrate the controls with the car secured. Explain which setting you would use for changing conditions, and discuss when poor clearing would make continuing inappropriate. Build familiarity before the first demanding wet-weather session.

A premium range to research

Bosch Aerotwin is a range to compare using Bosch’s own wiper catalogue. Select by the exact vehicle, build details and arm connection; the range name alone does not identify a compatible pair. Confirm fitment with the supplier or installer. This is a research suggestion, not a hands-on product review, a current-stock claim or a promised improvement for every car.

A situation to discuss

One wiper leaves a broad smear even though the washer operates. Increasing the wiper speed may repeat the same obscured view more quickly. Check the cause with appropriate guidance while parked: blade condition, contamination, fit and the glass itself may matter. If a replacement is needed, verify the exact part and connection. A suitable product installed correctly is more useful than a premium range selected by name alone.
