Keeping your NSW learner logbook accurate each week
A weekly logbook check is easier than reconstructing months of driving before a test.
A weekly logbook check is easier than reconstructing months of driving before a test. Accurate records also help you notice whether your practice is varied or concentrated on the same easy journey.
Understand the situation
Use the current accepted logbook format and follow its instructions for session details and supervision. Keep the distinction between actual driving and any eligible bonus credit clear. If something is missing or incorrect, ask Service NSW how to resolve it rather than inventing a replacement entry.
Before you practise
- Check dates and session times while they are still fresh
- Review whether night experience is recorded correctly
- Confirm the required supervisor details are complete
A focused practice session
Choose one day each week to review recent entries together. Compare your practice notes with the logbook and identify a condition you have not experienced recently. Plan that experience only when your instructor or supervisor considers your current skills suitable.
A situation to discuss
Imagine finding an unsigned or incomplete entry several weeks after the drive. Do not fill the gap from a guess merely because you remember travelling that day. Discuss it with the supervisor and follow the official process for correcting the record. A weekly review would have made the details easier to establish. It also gives you a chance to spot that most sessions have been short daytime journeys.
